How does identity verification work?

Identity verification works by comparing the credentials (such as knowledge-based information, possession of an item, or biometric data) provided by an individual seeking access with the credentials stored within the system that have previously been validated and linked to the identity in question. Identity verification can rely on a set of different methods and technologies to do so:

Government-issued ID and selfie verification

This method involves instantly matching a valid government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, to a selfie to verify identity. The system uses advanced facial recognition technology to ensure that the person matches the photo on the ID.

Data extraction from ID documents

Healthcare organizations may capture images of identification documents, such as driver’s licenses or insurance cards. Relevant data from these documents is extracted and used to verify the patient’s identity. This helps streamline the registration process and ensures accurate patient information.

Patient identity proofing
